Care Instructions

These socks are special and therefore require special treatment. To keep your Good Socks performing their best for as long as possible we recommend these care instructions.

  1. Wash Gently inside out:

We recommend that you wash your Merino wool hiking socks by hand or using a gentle machine wash cycle and wash the socks inside out. Use cold or lukewarm water and mild detergent (bonus points if you use a detergent that is specifically designed for wool garments). Avoid using bleach or fabric softeners as they can damage the fibers.

  1. Air Dry:

Air drying is the best method for drying merino wool hiking socks. Lay them flat on a clean towel or drying rack, away from direct sunlight or heat sources. Avoid hanging them as this can cause the socks to stretch out of shape. We know that you may still want to use a dryer so if you do we recommend using low heat and avoid drying with other abrasive materials.

  1. Store dry and cool:

When not in use, store your merino wool hiking socks in a cool, dry place. Avoid storing them in plastic bags or airtight containers as this can trap moisture and lead to mildew or odor buildup. Instead, opt for breathable fabric or mesh bags to allow air circulation.

  1. Avoid Abrasive Surfaces:

Avoid walking on rough or abrasive surfaces while wearing your Merino wool hiking socks. This can cause excessive wear and tear on the fibers, leading to premature damage.

  1. Avoid Harsh Chemicals:

Avoid exposing your Merino wool hiking socks to harsh chemicals such as bleach, solvents, or insect repellents. These substances can cause discoloration, weakening of the fibers, and loss of performance.

  1. Pilling:

Merino wool socks may develop small balls of fibers, known as pills, over time. This is a natural occurrence and can be easily removed using a fabric shaver or by gently pulling them off with your fingers. Avoid using scissors or sharp objects that can damage the sock.
